Vintage Glass Fishing Float Current pictured flying over the TakuVintage GLASS FISHING FLOATS Aleutian Islands, AK Collectors items, home dcor and keepsakes. Vintage glass fishing floats were used by 19th and 20th century fishermen in the North Atlantic and North Pacific to hold to top of their net afloat. Some of the earliest uses were in Norway in the 1840s. Russian, Korean, and in particular, Japanese fishermen used them near Alaska starting in about 1910. Salvaged by a Juneau collector from remote Alaskan
